V-Locker AG is a Swiss manufacturer of automatic bicycle towers that are redefining urban mobility. Their towers are installed in municipalities across multiple countries, offering cyclists a secure, automated parking experience — accessible via a mobile app and connected to a central IoT management platform.
Challenge
V-Locker needed a technology partner capable of taking full ownership of the software side of their business — from initial platform design through active development and long-term maintenance.
The scope was broad and complex: the platform had to orchestrate a growing cloud of smart IoT towers distributed across different countries, serve cyclists through intuitive web and mobile interfaces in multiple languages, and provide support personnel with the operational data and analytics they need to manage the network reliably.
Building this required combining deep IoT integration work with full-cycle product development across several interconnected services and applications simultaneously.

Edgica took on the role of full technology partner, providing a dedicated team responsible for the entire software platform across its lifecycle.
The platform was designed and built as a suite of services and applications:
- IoT orchestration layer — cloud backend connecting and managing V-Locker towers across countries in real time, handling booking requests, tower status, and event processing
- Booking & operating platform — the core system managing cyclist registrations, reservations, access control, and billing workflows
- Mobile application — multi-language iOS and Android app giving cyclists the ability to locate towers, book parking slots, and manage their account
- Web application — multi-language web interface mirroring the mobile experience for browser-based access
- Operational dashboards — internal tools providing support personnel with live network data, usage analytics, and insights for day-to-day operations
The full stack spans Java and Spring on the backend, Python services built with Django and FastAPI, an Angular frontend, and cloud infrastructure on Amazon AWS with Docker-based deployments.
Development runs in an ongoing agile process, with Edgica maintaining continuous delivery, proactive monitoring, and platform evolution as V-Locker’s network expands.
